Anyone can easily lower their hypertension if they want to. Although this condition affects over 80 million Americans, most of them unfortunately turn to drugs before they quickly realise what a mistake this was. In this article, I’ll give you the lowdown on high blood pressure and how to reverse it.
What Is High Blood Pressure?
Let me clear something up first. Different medical committees in different countries disagree a little but the basic definition is that a healthy b.p. is around 115/75.
In some countries like the UK, they have a zone called “pre-hypertension” which is up to 140/90. In many ways, this is bad advice because it encourages people to believe that there is no risk in being at, say 139/89. In fact, this is not true – even at this small elevated pressure you still have an increased risk of sudden death from cardiac arrest or stroke.
So let’s be clear – we want to get to 115/75.
Drugs
Many doctors will initially give their patients drugs. In fact, a growing section of doctors are now realising that the practice of the last 30 years or so has been wrong.
They say this because it is well known that no matter what combination of drugs are tried, debilitating side effects are common (not rare) and include sexual dysfunction, headaches, dizziness, constipation, dry cough and more.
The only people who should go onto drugs immediately are those rare few with extremely high blood pressure and are in danger of dying within months if they do not immediately do something about it.
For everyone else, doctors are now realising that the best place to start is with natural methods.
Natural Methods
Your b.p. is directly related to your diet but also your stress and exercise levels. Diet especially has the greatest effect.
This does not mean that you need to start eating like a vegetarian. Far from it, just a few minor changes or even popping a daily supplement may be all that you need to get you back into the healthy zone.
